Audra Mcdonald is a singular artist in terms of the range and variety of her talent as a performer and singer. Audra McDonald, the winner of six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was listed as one of the Times magazine's 100 Most Influential People. The president Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -the most prestigious honor bestowed to Americans for achievements in this field. She's equally comfortable on screen, in television as well as Broadway. Her beautiful soprano can make her appear effortless on the stage. She is an accomplished performer performing and recording frequently appearing at of the top places around the world. McDonald was born in a musical family in California, Fresno. Her classical singing instruction from her school, the Juilliard School of New York. She won her first Tony Award in 1994 for the best performance of an actress who was featured in a musical called Carousel and was presented at Lincoln Center Theater. In the subsequent four years She was honored with two additional Tony Awards as a featured actor of Terrence Mcnally's Broadway debuts Master Class (1996) and Ragtime (1998) that gave her the total 3 Tony Awards at the age at just 30. As the Tony Awards' most decorated performer, she was able to make Broadway record-breaking history when she took home her sixth Tony Award for acting in Billie Holiday as Lady Day in the Emerson's Bar & Grill. This part also gave her the opportunity to perform to make her Olivier Award nominee 2017 London West End debut. Along with setting records in terms of the number of awards an actor received, she also became the first person ever to take home every category. The credits for McDonald's theatre work comprise The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (99) Henry IV (2005) 110 in the Shade (2006) Twelfth Nacht (2009), which was her Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut, Shuffle Along or The Making of the Musical sensation of 1921 & All That Followed (2017) Frankie and Johnny in Clair de Lune (2018) as well as Ohio State Murders 2023. The Peabody Award-winning CBS program Having Our Say The Delany Sisters The First 100 Years which first introduced McDonald to TV viewers for her performance as a dramatic actor. McDonald got a 4th Emmy award in recognition of her role in HBO's film-special of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, in the year 2016. The Bite is a drama with six seasons based around a pandemic, coproduced by Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. She appeared alongside Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. Having first appeared as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's legal drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald was back in her role (now known as Liz Reddick) as a Season regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ and received 3 Critics Choice Award nominations for her performance. The actress is currently a guest star in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which is telecast on HBO.
