Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed racial identity and sexuality with boldly comedic perspective before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was Nora's first instrument. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop education began when she was a teenager. Concentrating on school she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even learning Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. Other viral hits included the queef, a body positive track and the eye-catching NYC Bitchethe hometown tour for $. The song was specifically linked to Awkwafinas NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. The singer decided to make acting as a profession after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies such as Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, In Fina We Trust in June of the year.
